05/01/2025
Diego Gigliani, president and general manager of St. Louis CITY SC, delivered an inspiring presentation at the Chaifetz School of Business on Tuesday as part of the Edward Jones Speaker Series. Drawing from more than a decade of experience in management consulting and global football operations, Gigliani offered students and business leaders an inside look at what it takes to build a high-performing organization.
Gigliani, who spent 13 years in management consulting before joining Manchester City and later St. Louis CITY SC, shared lessons from his journey blending the worlds of sports and business. His talk, titled "How to Create a High-Performing Team, Both On and Off the Pitch," emphasized that strong organizations are built with intention, clarity, and a deep-rooted sense of purpose.
Having joined St. Louis CITY SC two years ago, Gigliani now leads the club on behalf of its ownership group, helping translate their long-term vision into actionable strategies. Under his leadership, the club is not only making strides on the field but also embedding itself in the cultural and economic fabric of St. Louis.
In his presentation, Gigliani outlined five key pillars that he believes every organization needs to thrive: purpose, ambition, innovation, resilience and family. The event drew over 80 students, faculty, staff and alumni, who had the opportunity to ask how CITY SC and SLU could work together to transform and better the St. Louis region.
Founded in 1910, the Richard A. Chaifetz School of Business at Saint Louis University has shaped the future of industry for more than a century.
